Each year, on the first day of Farvardin, all of Batool’s family members gather at her house and spend the first day of the year together. And Batool is the only reason for this event. Children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren are all busy with their everyday lives, some of them have left Kashan and live in Tehran or Isfahan, thus the first day of Farvardin is the only opportunity to visit the whole family.
Batool Moghanizadeh Kashani was born in Kashan in 1303. She has lost two children during Revolution and war and her husband has passed away as well. She is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and over the past few years, due to the development of the disease and old age, she is unable to do her everyday chores and her children take care of her.
The Eid of 1396 is the second year I spend time with this family and I try to record these important moments.
This collection contains portraits of Batool’s family members which are done in the simplest way.
