In Persian culture, Rice, plants & fish have their own specific meanings, they are Respectively the symbols of Blessing, birth & life. This is the reason why Iranian people eat fish with rice –sabzipolo ba mahi, as a new year’s meal which coordinates with the growth & revival of nature from the cold season to the arrival of the blooming season & new year. Iranian people put their emphasis on this ancient tradition.
The time that we've gone to the north of Iran ,in Kelardasht city on nowruz vacation, my family have made fish with rice-sabzipolo ba mahi as a new year meal as well.
